We're getting hitched

September 7, 2019 / Gearhart, OR

Let's celebrate

The Oregon coast is a special place for both of us. Ellie's family has been spending summers in Gearhart for fifty years and counting, and some of Andy's earliest memories are of digging in the sand at Cannon Beach.

Please join us to kick off the next chapter of our lives together.
We're excited to celebrate with our family and friends!

Accommodations

There are plenty of places to stay in and around Gearhart. September is still fairly busy, so please make plans ASAP!

Uber/Lyft aren't currently active in Gearhart and there are very few taxis. If you’d rather not deal with driving to and from the wedding, staying in Gearhart and walking is a great option.

In Gearhart

McMenamins Gearhart Hotel

If you want the shortest possible walk home from the reception, we have a block of rooms at the Gearhart Hotel. It's a small hotel so space is limited—book early!

Gearhart by the Sea Condos

Gearhart by the Sea is a centrally-managed condo development. Each condo is independently owned so there is a range of styles and price points. They are all across the street from the Gearhart Hotel.

Gearhart Ocean Inn

Easily the cutest option in the area, the Gearhart Ocean Inn has a variety of different room types, including a couple cottages.

Rental Houses

Gearhart is full of charming houses for rent. With a big group, this can be the most economical option, and definitely the most fun.

Near Gearhart

Astoria

About 30 minutes away from Gearhart, Astoria is worth a visit. If you plan to extend your stay, check out one of the many breweries or coffee shops. The Sunday Market and Astoria Column are also major highlights - don't forget to buy balsa wood airplanes before heading up the column!

Commodore Hotel  |  Cannery Pier Hotel  |  Hotel Elliot

Seaside

The quintessential Oregon coast tourist town, just two miles south of Gearhart. Even if you don't stay here, it's definitely worth a day trip. Get breakfast at the Pig n' Pancake, play Fascination, ride the Tilt-a-Whirl, and finish with saltwater taffy from the Candyman (it's creepy, but a classic).

Photos

Thanks to Lynnsey Phillips of Lionlady Photography and many of our friends for these photos!

Do you have photos of us stashed on your phone that you’re willing to share? Add them here!

Registry

Gifts certainly aren't required, but should you feel so inclined, we have registries at the stores below and would put any of the gizmos to good use.

Alternatively, consider making a donation to one of the non-profit organizations that we care about. We probably have enough trinkets already. Tell us if you donate so we can say thank you!

FAQ

how do I get To gearhart?

If you live in the greater Seattle area, it's easiest to drive down. Andy prefers to take 101 down the coast—watch out for speed traps (especially through Raymond and South Bend)!

If you live farther away, you can fly into SeaTac (3.5 hours from Gearhart) or Portland (2 hours). You'll need to rent a car either way or carpool with somebody driving down.

If you've really never been to this part of the world, we strongly recommend extending your stay by a couple days on either end. Check out the Accommodations section for some tips about our favorite activities nearby.

Are there shuttles?

Is there parking?

Gearhart is a pretty small town, so no shuttles are scheduled. It's a 7 minute walk between the ceremony and reception venues (proof).

If you're staying in Gearhart, we recommend just walking for the evening.

If you're driving in from elsewhere, park at McMenamins Gearhart Hotel and hoof it from there. Parking is very limited at The Shack. If you have concerns about walking between the venues, please let us know so we can make sure to accommodate you.

Should I bring a plus one?

We're excited to spend forever together, and excited to celebrate the start of that with you, our family, friends, and loved ones. However, capacity at the venues is limited.

If you have a partner or significant other you'd like to bring, let us know in your RSVP and they're more than welcome to come. Otherwise, please stick to the folks whose names were on your invite.

Should I bring my kids?

If your child or children are named on your invite, please feel free to bring them. We are not providing nanny services so please use your best judgement if you're considering bringing small children. We want everybody, including you and your kids, to have a great time!

Should I bring my pets?

The ceremony and reception venues are for humans only, so please make other arrangements for your dogs, ferrets, pygmy goats and other animal friends for the evening.

Thanks for understanding!

What should I wear?

We suggest beach formal. Weather in September can vary from warm and sunny to foggy and cold, consider bringing a jacket or wrap. Don't forget that both venues are on grass and there will be a short walk and lots of dancing! Choose your footwear carefully.

What is the Welcome Party?

Another excuse to hang out with all our favorite people! If you're coming into town early (or already live there), please swing by the Lovell Taproom at Fort George Brewery to say hello to the wedding party, our families, and other guests.

There is no dress code and beverages and snacks will be provided.
